PAC Contributions to City of Lansing Candidates
Updated January 14, 2010

Home

With a total of $54,075, incumbent mayor Virg Bernero leads all other candidates for city offices in contributions from PACs so far this year. City council member and unsuccessful mayoral candidate Carol Wood is second with $15,100.

Contribution amounts were taken from expenditure reports submitted by PACs to the Secretary of State for the period 1/1/2009-10/20/2009 and from the candidates' own reports for 1/1/2009-11/23/2009.

I find interesting the late contributions - contributions received after or so close to the November 3 election that they would be no use to the campaign.

Here is the breakdown of PAC contributions to Bernero:

This second contribution of $500 on 9/4/09 is probably a reporting error. Bernero reported two $500 payments, but the Restaurant Association reported only one.

**

This contribution of $4750 on 7/16/09 was reported twice by IBEW-COPE, but was also reported by IBEW-COPE as paid back by the Bernero campaign the same day.
*** The Sinas-Dramis PAC is registered with the Secretary of State, but has reported no expenditures.

As of 11/23/09, Bernero has a balance of $16,429.72 in his campaign account.
