Mayor's expenses detailed
This newspaper has reported on the "City Administrative Account" that Mayor Virg Bernero has used to raise more than $194,000 in the last four years.
Contributors included the Board of Water and Light ($2,500); The Accident Fund ($9,500); Tetra Tech ($18,000); the United Auto Workers ($6,000) and Christman Construction ($3,000).
But, how the money was spent is also interesting.
Examples: $1,601 on cufflinks (cufflinks?); $8,621 at the Lansing Country Club; $11,629 at the Lansing Lugnuts (that's a lot of hot dogs); $25,500 for consulting from Sloan & Associates; $848 at Troppo. And, there were two purchases from A. Dean Watkins for which the reported "purpose" is puzzling (and possibly a typo): $4,133 for "city gastus" and $594 for "City Penals."
