CATA employee wages for 2022

March 15, 2023

I received an anonymous letter in early February:

CATA is the Capital Area Transportation Authority (cata.org).

I submitted a Freedom of Information Act request asking for employee wage information for 2022 and - within days - CATA emailed me an Excel file with the requested information. You can download the file as I received it here. For the presentations below, I selected the most relevant information, a small portion of what CATA provided:

All employees, sorted by name

Operations Department

Maintenance Department

Other Departments

Highest salaries

Hired or rehired in 2022

Terminations

I have also published CATA wage information for 2016, 2018 and 2020.

In the past, overtime earnings have been an issue, but I have made no attempt to report them here. There are fields in the file for Regular and Overtime earnings, but there is nothing in them for hourly union employees. For hourly union employees, overtime and double time earnings fields are spread among dozens of earnings detail fields, and it is not easy to identify them. I talked about this in my story about 2018 CATA wages.

Here are the salaries and total wages for the top 3 executives for 2018, 2020 and 2022:

2018

2020

2022
